Description

The classic Fisio with new ClimaVent surface is very suitable for long distance and touring use. The open ClimaVent membrane fabric provides a permanent layer of air between body and saddle surface – optimal seat climate is guaranteed. The wide design of the seat area is ideal for the more upright riding position. Here a large part of the body weight rests on the seat bones. Due to the special basic shape of the saddle in connection with the 3-Zone-Comfort-Principle and gel inserts, the Fisio offers good relief in the perineal and genital areas as well as a very good pressure distribution in the seat bone area.

More Athletic. More Comfortable. More Ergonomic
All saddles are designed with a dynamic shape and an athletic look by sports scientist and ergonomist Dr. Kim Tofaute. The thickness and firmness of the padding is specifically adjusted to every model. The gender-specific, anatomical adjustment is optimized resulting in significant pressure relief improvement in the critical areas for both men and women. All models in the Sport, Fitness and Touring Series come in 2 different widths for both genders.

Terry Saddle Technologies

Saddle ergonomics not only encompasses a well thought out design by our Terry experts, but also precise manufacturing and high quality materials. Terry saddles are designed to actively prevent problems when sitting on the bike. Quality and function combine to make a real difference you can feel when riding.

Handmade saddles: For a Superb Riding Experience
Handmade by Terry means that each saddle cover on select models is applied by hand to the seat foam—delivering the finest comfort possible. In the past the saddle shell and the seat foam were connected together using a vacuum compression method.

Important: The foam is not glued to the saddle shell, but precisely adheres to it—reducing the tension between the two supporting components.

Innovative padding foams for the best possible pressure distribution
Terry utilizes high-performance PU or EVA foam padding to ensure an even pressure distribution of the sit bones on the saddle when riding the bike. The true quality of the foam lies in its composition. The cyclist’s sit bones should indent the foam without compressing it completely. Only the perfect degree of reset force prevents the rider from depressing the padding excessively – which could cause the sit bones to touch the underlying saddle shell – negating the foams supporting properties.

PU (Polyurethane) is an organic foam, which is inherently stable and elastic at the same time. The saddle is comfortable without deforming too much, preventing the sit bones from sinking in too deeply into the padding.

EVA (Ethylene-vinyl acetate) is a synthetic foam with even better damping and comfort properties. It is also lighter, making EVA foams perfect for suspending the rider from vibrations and shocks from rough road or trail surfaces.

These two foam technologies prevent pain and numbness in the genital and perineal area, increasing the fun of riding and improving comfort of the bike saddle.

More differences are found in the production process.

In the Air Cell® process the EVA foam is first manually glued to the saddle shell and the cover is applied on top. This way of manufacturing is used with the older Arteria GT saddles.

The ComfortFoam process uses PU foam for the Handmade Fisio, Figura GT and GTC seats. The Vacuum method is employed with the current versions of the Arteria and Exera Handmade seats

Improved relief through Comfort Gel
Many Terry saddles in the Race, Sport, Fitness, Touring and City category use specifically tuned ComfortGel inserts which distribute pressure in the sit bone area differently than foams and also ensure very good shock absorption. Combined with the anatomically shaped saddle shell this results in great comfort when seated and also reduces the saddles overall weight.

Shock Absorber – HiComfort made in Germany
Effectively reducing strain on your back and an extra plus in increased comfort is our shock absorber inspired from the automotive field.

In select models from the Touring and City category we use Cellasto®Microzell inserts. They offer excellent damping characteristics, are durable and easy to care for. Depending on the shock, they are compressed up to 75% of their own material thickness, which illustrates how effective their damping and comfort really is.

Extra: All Terry saddle models with shock absorber also feature a mount for QuickClick saddle bags and accessories.

Models with shock absorber and QuickClick saddle bag mount are: Fisio GTC Gel,Fisio GTFisio Flex Gel, and Anatomica Flex Gel

Surface MaterialsTerry saddles are easy to care for and weatherproof. At Terry we have two different elastic cover
materials: DuraLux Microfiber and WeatherMax DuraSilk.

The Terry seat rails
Terry bike saddles are durable, reliable and strong. One reason for this is we use saddle rails made from FeC or CroMo steel alloys. With FeC steel the rails are made from a thick wire. The CroMo rails, in contrast, are tubular and are lighter. To ensure the strength of the CroMo rails the steel is refined with alloy additives during production.

Wind/Spray protection
In some of our Terry saddle models we have integrated a wind and spray protection into the saddle shell. This keeps dirt and water from penetrating through the relief opening.

Models with wind/sprax protection:
Figura GTC Gel, Figura GT,Fisio GTC Gel und Fisio GT.

What causes saddle pain and how can we prevent it?
Most of the body weight rests on the saddle while cycling, this frequently leads to saddle problems and discomfort. It can cause numbness and pain near the sit-bones, and soft tissue areas on both men and women. Friction is another factor that can cause additional discomfort issues.

Do women and men need different saddles?
Yes! One of the most reasonable gender-specific products are bicycle saddles

The greatest difference between women and men is without doubt the genital- and seating-zone. Most of the body weight rests on the saddle while cycling, this frequently leads to saddle problems and discomfort.

Numerous products are developed specifically for women and men. Examples are underwear, shorts, jerseys, shoes, helmets, gloves and backpacks. Bicycle saddles are offered with different and partially ergonomic concepts. Many of them ignore the obvious difference between women and men due to marketing reasons. Since 1994 Terry has been a pioneer in developing ergonomic saddles to stop seating discomfort for women and men.

Terry saddles for women and men.
The graphic shows genital and perineal contact zones of women and men

100 % Men
 Sensitive perineal área
In men, the urethra and erectile tissue in the perineal region cannot move and so are subject to uncomfortable strain. The anterior genitalia are mobile and can move to avoid pressure.

100 % Women Sensitive genital región
In women, the pubic bone is lower than in men. This puts significant strain on the external genitalia when sitting on conventional saddles.

Women-specific pressure relief in the front of the saddle
The women’s saddle has a wide relief channel towards the front. This provides excellent relief for the soft tissue in the genital area.

Men-specific pressure relief in the back of the saddle
The men’s saddle has a relief channel towards the back. This relieves pressure on the perineal area.

The 3-Zone-Comfort-Principle
Pressure created by the upper body weight distributes in a way that seat discomfort diminishes, and the comfort of your saddle effectively increases.

Step-free seating without a tilting movement
Cyclists change their seating position depending on the stress level and riding duration, to biomechanically optimize pedaling and reduce the saddle pressure intuitively.
As a result, the step-free Terry saddles are designed for dynamic seating. The unique step-free, anatomical shape follows the natural position of the sit-bones while in their movement pattern. It ensures an optimal pressure distribution in every seating position.

Terry: Step-free seating with a relief channel for optimal pressure distribution when changing the seating position.

Step-Concept: Disturbing tilting movement = High pressure while moving on the saddle.

Ergonomical and Medically Approved
Terry saddles are proven to effectively stop saddle discomfort. The saddles are available in two widths and are specifically developed and designed for both the male and female anatomies. The step-free 3-Zone Comfort Principal saddle surface with the ergonomic relief channel is proven effective against saddle discomfort while riding.

Terry saddles are developed using the latest sensor pressure measuring technologies in collaboration with our expert team comprised of Dr. med. Uwe Niekerken (Urologist), Hedda zu Putlitz (Physiotherapist) and Dr. Kim Tofaute (Sports Scientist and Ergonomist) in our Terry ergonomic laboratory.
