Behold… the revered Vigilante tread pattern, now with 2.8 inches of high-volume width. Why? Because it’s common knowledge that Fun Potential™ is positively correlated to tire volume. Backing this claim are tall, square-lugged knobs that deliver unwavering traction in loose, unpredictable terrain. Ample knob spacing allows the tread to remain clear through sloppy conditions, while the substantial knob height still protects the casing from spiteful rocks. We even slap it on the front of our bikepacking rigs for those extra sendy overnight trips where we’re not willing to sacrifice shredability. Increase your Fun Potential™ and ride the Vigilante 2.8.
Tritec and Slash Guard
All new Vigilante 2.5/2.6/2.8 tires feature TriTec Compound, which utilizes three rubber compounds to provide different levels of traction, support and durability based on their placement within the tread. The entire tread pattern is supported by a base of high durometer rubber, which also transitions halfway into the height of the knobs and allows for the use of softer knob compounds without the tire folding due to cornering forces. The top of the center knobs consist of a medium durometer compound to provide traction and durability without sacrificing rolling efficiency, while the outer knobs feature the softest compound to deliver maximum grip and slow rebound. All TCS Light versions of the new WTB tires feature Slash Guard technology, which incorporates a protective nylon insert spanning the entire sidewall to provide extra protection without the weight of a dual ply casing.
- Square-lugged knobs deliver unwavering traction, yet with added height to ensure they dig even deeper into loose, unpredictable terrain.
- Updated siping arrangement places emphasis on cornering forces, while the larger knobs don’t discriminate against shamelessly forceful cornering or reckless braking.
- Increased circumferential spacing allows the tread to remain clear in sloppy conditions, while still keeping the casing protected from spiteful rocks.
- Optimized around i40 rims.

WTB’s proprietary sealant tubeless system, TCS (Tubeless Compatible System,) revolutionized rims and tires in 2009 when combining ETRTO, ISO, and UST standards with light tubeless rotational weights. Never before had a standards-based tubeless system weighed so little. Certified as the first sealant-based tires for the UST system in 2012 by Mavic, TCS continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible through purpose-built tires and rims tailor-made for every discipline of cycling. TCS tough high grip (THG)
Glue-like conforming rubber draped over two full layers of casing leaves no area unprotected. Developed through real testing during the Enduro World Series, TCS Tough tires can take some serious abuse.
Three compounds provide optimal levels of traction, support and durability. A base of high durometer rubber supports the entire tread and transitions into the knobs to prevent folding or squirming. Medium stiffness center knobs cap the base layer to provide traction and durability without sacrificing rolling efficiency, while soft compound side knobs deliver maximum grip and slow rebound for increased cornering traction.
