TCS is our standardized tubeless rim/tire system designed to meet international ETRTO standards and deliver unbeatable tubeless performance and reliability. TCS components reduce weight, increase traction, virtually eliminate flats and has established itself as the most dependable tubeless system available. Our TCS system includes tires, rims, tape, sealant and valves to provide a comprehensive package of unrivaled tubeless performance and reliability. Every Proterra wheel benefits from our TCS (Tubeless Compatible System) system and ships with the Solid Strip, TCS tubeless tape and black alloy valves already installed. This means all Proterra wheels are ready for tubeless tires and sealant right out of the box.

Dependable 6069 alloy
Proterra rims are extruded from WTB’s premier 6069 aluminum alloy to optimize strength while a bead blast finish and durable water-transfer decals keep your wheels looking fresh. Our extensive testing shows other 6000-series alloy to be less ding-resistant, while stiffer 7000-series alloys result in a harsher ride feel and tend to increase pinch flats. All of this ensures WTB Proterra wheels provide the compliance you expect on the first ride and the longevity you demand for every ride that follows.

Frequency hub
The world’s best carbon rims deserved to be paired with high-quality hubs that further improve the performance of a lightweight, dependable carbon wheelset. Frequency hubs feature a low-drag, 6-pawl design that alternates contact between two sets of 3-pawl groupings to provide a responsive 5 degrees of freehub engagement.

Solid strip & TCS tape
Durable nylon strip that lies between the rim and tubeless tape to prevent tubeless tape from pushing into the spoke holes and ensures a smooth interface between the tire and rim. The smooth surface makes it easier to mount a tire by preventing air from escaping around the bead at each indent during inflation. Solid Strip also protects the airtight system from puncture in the case of a broken spoke.

3-Cross lacing and brass nipples
Too many companies are trying to save weight by offering "enduro" wheels with 2-cross lacing patterns and inadequate alloy nipples. While those are suitable for XC and light trail usage, there's no replacement for the longterm reliability of a 3-cross lacing pattern with brass nipples holding it all together.

30 mm inner rim width
Enduro and aggressive trail riders across the globe have adopted 30mm as the go-to size for tires in the most common widths of 2.4-2.5". Most trail and enduro tires are now designed to be installed on a 30mm rim and doing so will optimize the air volume, sidewall support and tire profile of those tires. As XC becomes more aggressive and companies offer wider XC tires, these lightweight 30mm rims are also an excellent choice for XC riders who prioritize confidence over shaving grams.

Proterra wheels are hand-built in our California wheel building facility at the base of Mount Tamalpais, where mountain biking began. Our team of wheel wizards lace, tension and tape every Proterra with the same attention to detail they provide their own wheels.
